Academic Resources

Every student faces certain milestones in his educational career. Sometimes it can be difficult to assist your children without the proper resources. The following links can assist you in providing your children with helpful information.

- ASKROSE.org is FREE one on one homework help for Science and Math questions. Tutors are Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology students who major in math, science or engineering that volunteer their time and talents to tutor Indiana students in Grades 6 - 12.
- Scroll down or click the COURSES arrow in the top left corner to view dozens of courses with lessons that will help you figure out how to do those tough problems. There are even AP and College courses included!

SCHOLASTIC ASSESSMENT TEST (SAT)

The SAT is a college admission test that demonstrates a student鈥檚 college readiness. The SAT must be taken for admission to most four-year colleges. We recommend that students take the SAT once in the spring of their junior year and again in the fall of their senior year. Colleges will generally take your highest verbal/math score from both tests and put them together to create a new score.

AMERICAN COLLEGE TESTING (ACT)

The ACT is also a college admission tests that demonstrates a student鈥檚 college readiness. The ACT covers four skill areas: mathematics, English, reading, and science. The ACT offers an optional writing test.

What can I expect from the ETS Program?

You can expect that highly qualified professionals will assist you with your academic and career goals. Our staff members have extensive backgrounds and training in educational and social issues that impact the success of students. We use this knowledge to provide creative programming, intrusive advising, and innovative experiences that will prepare you for higher education.

We will be there to assist you in your current academic endeavors as well as preparing you for the future by assisting with college applications and navigating the financial aid process. If we have information about deadline dates, we will get them for you, and if you need a sounding board to explore your options, we will be there for you.

What does ETS expect from me?

Should you choose to apply for the program, we expect that means you have a strong desire to enter post secondary education and you will commit to this purpose. We ask that you complete all paper work needed in a timely manner as that assists us in maximizing dollars for your experience. We ask that you participate in activities provided by the program.

We will come visit you in the schools, so we hope you come filled with questions and updates about your education. Finally, we ask that you involve your family in your success whenever possible; building a wide and strong educational support system will be the key to your success. Please remember YOUR legacy begins today; it is for you to choose the direction.

Graduation Requirements

Many colleges require additional courses above what many state standards require.

In Indiana, students must meet the requirement for graduation. Additional graduation options are provided, such as Core 40 with Academic Honors and Core 40 with Technical Honors. Also, an opt-out provision is offered for students if their parents believe they can benefit more from a General Diploma. However, completion of Core 40 is a minimum college admission requirement for Indiana鈥檚 public four-year universities, beginning fall 2011.
